Co-ordinator Post - we are currently advertising for a new part-time co-ordinator, with a contract of 12 months in the first instance.  The ability to speak and write fluently in both Welsh and English is a requirement of this post.

Local food in Gwynedd

Transporting food over vast distances wastes a lot of energy, contributes to global warming and the food has lost much of its taste by the time it reaches you. SGG believes that the best food is food that has been grown or produced near you. But it can sometimes be difficult to find local food. This is why we have compiled a list of addresses for you.

Petition: Keep Wales Nuclear-Free!

Pembrokeshire Friends of the Earth Pembrokeshire have initiated a petition calling for a Nuclear-Free Wales. The petition can be downloaded from their website, where you will also find more information on the campaign.

From Here to Sustainability - training event

Sustainable Wales, funded by the Countryside Council for Wales, will be providing a free training session on Monday, 27 March 2006 at the University of Wales, Bangor aimed at community sector/development staff, social enterprises and volunteers. The plan is to help you introduce sustainable development policies and practices into your organisation.

The workshops will be fun, participatory, tailored to individual needs, offering case studies, sample policies, supporting materials, contacts and networking opportunities.

Social Forum Cymru 2006

The first all-Wales Social Forum will be held on 28 April - 1 May 2006 in Aberystwyth. Social Forum Cymru brings together organisations, groups, networks and individuals working for peace, justice, environmental sustainability and an end to poverty. Course: Community Renewable Energy Schemes

May 12 - 14, 2006, Centre for Alternative Technology, Machynlleth. A new course run by experts from Bro Dyfi Community Renewables and the Centre for Alternative Technology for people who are interested in developing community owned renewable energy projects. Sessions will cover: the benefits of community ownership, the mechanics of developing such a venture and case studies from existing schemes in the UK. Solar electricity installation courses

Green Dragon Energy are organising 5 days intensive courses on stand-alone solar electric systems (not grid-connected) at Saint Laurent de Cerdans in the French Pyrenees. The next courses will take place on Monday 15 May - Friday 19 May 2006 and Monday 19 June - Friday 23 June 2006 (provisional date).
